Students work through a program at the University of Memphis to refurbish medical equipment and subsequently take it to Belize and Costa Rica.

Engineers Without Borders

Our student chapter of this nonprofit organization is committed to helping people in developing countries with engineering needs while involving and training responsible engineering students dedicated to international service and leadership. Students in EWB–USA travel and complete projects involving the design and construction of water, waste-water, sanitation, energy and shelter systems in countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador and Kenya.

Health, Environment and Infrastructure in Latin America (HEILA)

The Health, Environment and Infrastructure in Latin America (HEILA) initiative is an exciting opportunity for students to perform two-week service learning projects in countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras while learning about the region’s history, culture and politics. Students also explore their profession and its relationship to civil society in the United States and abroad.
