The YES program is a collaboration between Marquette University and the United Community Center to promote good health, positive social interaction, and community building in Latino youth.

The program follows the progress of fifty Hispanic high school students over a three year period.

What is the purpose of the outreach program?

  • The program was developed in response to a growing concern that many youth lack the skills and support needed to succeed in school and the community.

  • It addresses issues such as the rising number of obesity and childhood diabetes in youth as well as the lack of academic achievement.

  • It helps youth to achieve in school, to prepare for careers in health and human services, and to contribute to their community by promoting healthy lifestyles.
