Welcome from President Robert A. Wild, S.J.

Rev. Robert A. Wild, S.J.100 years ago, Father James McCabe, my predecessor as president, made a pioneering decision to admit women alongside men in the bachelor of arts program at Marquette University. I am proud of Father McCabe’s courageous decision, one that introduced coeducation to Catholic higher education.

I hope you will visit this site often and take part in Marquette University’s Centennial Celebration of Women. This site provides archival photos and factoids about campus from 1909 to 2009; historical notes of the week to highlight turning-point moments; personal narratives contributed by alumnae, faculty and staff; a calendar of upcoming events and more.

Join Marquette University, our campus community, and alumni and friends worldwide in marking one of the most important milestones in the development of Catholic higher education and in honoring Father James McCabe, the Jesuit priest who set it all in motion.
